Hello hello everyone. My name is Jeremy. Torchlight 2 is a new RPG hack-and-slash Diablo like game. If you are like me, Diablo 3 didn't reach the expectations that were set upon it. Yes, those expectations were high but they didn't meet the criteria. Torchlight 2 is something that will make you quite happy. There are a few points I'd like to bring up in this.
The feel of combat. The feel of combat is very good. I made an Engineer and I carry around a gigantic cannon. A glowing blue cannon. The normal. It feels amazing when I LITERALLY blow through enemies with it. One shot, one click, the enemy explodes into blood, splattering all around him. From those guts, money and items suddenly appear. Flying from his no-longer-there body. The feel of combat is very nice in Torchlight 2. You love fighting enemies, and you just want to keep going and going.
LOOT. Although not as a big subject, Torchlight 2 quite enforces loot. Not something to change the game drastically, it does make a big grin appear over your face as you open up a chest and suddenly your screen fills with loot, that nothing more will appear. I ran around picking up the gold and suddenly more loot came out, and I was amazed, and was laughing at the same time.
Story line. The Story line was quite interesting in the beginning. I won't throw out big spoilers, not there is really anything big to it but if you remember from the first game there was a class called the Alchemist. The Alchemist in this game starts out as sort of the enemy. Like from Diablo, he contains Diablo, but it overcomes him and turns into Diablo himself. Its like that. Odrak, the main villan from Torchlight 1. He is dead, but his heart roams on, along with all the evil. The Alchemist has this and goes crazy. Trying to destroy all Ember. Its interesting story, but nothing to change the game drastically.
Graphics. The graphics have been kicked up a notch. Although still that cartoony feel, it gives a little bit of mood change along with it. Which is how it should feel. I actually lag a little, not that my computer is the best, but it is fairly well. The designs of armor, swords and other items in the game is amazing as well. Equipping those items, makes you feel amazing.
Environments. The environments are quite good. Along with what I said with graphics, it does seriously change the mood of the game, making you feel quite in tune with the game. You feel a personal connection with your character. The environments are quick to change, and keep the game fresh.
Online. Online is a big new feature. This will seriously prolong the survival of this game. Anytime you play with your friends, a game becomes much better. So when your using skype, vent, Teamspeak, and your yelling and laughing and joking along with your friends, as you quickly die by General Grell. What a shame...
Pets. The pets make a comeback, making them better and awesomer. They have more pets, and they can have cool spells as well. They can now retrieve items from the General Store, like Potions, and scrolls. They also sell your stuff so its almost like there is no reason to go back, except to return quests. Stay in the battlefield forever. Although I hate sending him off, I quite like my ferret.
That is all I can think of. This game is amazing, and I give it 9.5/10.
